Following is an important note from Rod Kirchhoff and the Lafayette County Health Department, regarding a County-Wide Emergency Preparedness Drill to be held on April 7th. Lafayette County Health Dept. will be conducting a county-wide exercise (drill) on April 7, 2009 to see how many households they can make contact with in a 5 hour time frame. The exercise will be begin at 3 pm in the afternoon and will conclude around dark or 8 pm. With the help of many volunteers, they will be placing plastic bags with emergency preparedness information inside on the doorknobs of everyone’s residence. Additionally, pre-identified volunteers will be on the rural school busses to hand that same information to the students as they get off of the school bus. As the time gets closer, you will see and hear this exercise advertised in local papers, radio stations and other communication means. Lafayette County Health Dept. has been working very closely with the school districts, emergency managers and City Councils in make sure everyone is completely advised as to what this exercise is about and what the health department wants to accomplish. If you have any questions about this exercise, please feel free to contact the health department at 660-259-4371 or your local emergency manager. If, after April 7th, you find you did not receive one of the bags, please visit your local City Hall where additional bags are located. Some of the bags will contain a survey which the health department would like returned to them. The information they are requesting requires NO PERSONAL DATA. Please take a few moments to complete and return that survey. Thank you for your participation and understanding in this exercise." |
